Sonia Cheveldave passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 17, 2022. Sonia grew up in Grand Forks, BC with her parents Nick and Elizabeth Vanjoff and sister Lillian. Sonia married her husband Jack in March 1969 and settled in Castlegar to raise their family. Sonia worked at a bank until she had her daughters and then she became the wonderful and caring stay at home mom to make sure she was there for them as they grew up. She eventually went back to part time work in various clerical and bookkeeping positions until her retirement. Sonia loved spending time with her grandsons and great grandsons. She was always there to cheer them on at their music concerts and sporting events and many camping trips. Family meant the world to her. Sonia is survived by her husband, Jack, daughters Debbie (Jamie) and Coraline (Travis), grand sons, Tyler and Kyle (Emma), Parker (Brittni), Logan (Lexi), and great grandsons Bentley and Colton, as well as her sister Lillian Zibin. In honouring Sonia’s wishes there will be no funeral services. In lieu of funeral services and to honour Sonia, we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to the Parkinson’s Society of BC.
