Obituary for Shirley Peters

Shirley Ellen PETERS (STRATTON)
December 6, 1944 – June 8, 2023

We are extremely sad to announce that at age 78, our beloved Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, Sister and friend, Shirley passed away surrounded by family.
Shirley joins her family in heaven – Father Bert, Mother Violet, brothers Bob, Allen, Eddie, Dale and sisters Rose and Kathy. She is survived by two of her brothers, Dave, and Don.
Shirley is much loved by her husband of 56 years Herbert Gorden, and two children Patrick (Laurie) and Sherry (Todd). Also, Joe (Kevin) who she loved as one of her own. She is adored by her 9 grandchildren Kayleigh, Lacey (Scott), Travis (Alyson), Dryden (Mary), Kashyla (Kolby), Nevada-Lee (Brody), Kelsey, Tianna (Breylan) and Josh. As well as her 10 great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was known for being a wonderful artist who lived to paint and create all types of art when she wasn’t enjoying time with her treasured family and friends and enjoying nature. She had many cherished pets over the years whom she held dear to her heart, including Bella who will miss her immensely. She was a storyteller who loved to relive all her prized memories with anyone who was lucky enough to enjoy chatting with her.
Shirley was always beaming with joy when she was able to have or attend family BBQ’s, holiday gatherings or any type of get together. Anyone and everyone was always loved and accepted by Shirley and treated like family. In her words, “The more, the merrier!”
If you asked around town, she would be well known as the lady with blue hair, which she got a kick out of. She was so proud to be herself and loved when everyone else could be themselves as well.
Shirley was the heart and sole of our family and will be greatly missed by all.
The family wishes to thank all the health care staff that have cared for Shirley through the last year.
Shirley had requested a celebration be held in her honor and this will be set at a later date.
