It is with great sadness the family of Frank Steenvoorden announces his passing on May 18, 2023
at Castleview Care Centre.
Frank was born on March 8, 1951 to parents Frank and Teresa Steenvoorden in Kortenhoef
Holland. When Frank was only a few weeks old they boarded an immigrant ship named the
Volendam and sailed to Canada.
Frank served in Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and later in the RCMP Auxiliary. When Frank returned to Castlegar after his service in the RCN he met his wife, Gloria. Frank’s career in the forest industry started at Celgar in Castlegar. He later worked for Salmo Forest Products where he made his way into management. Frank was transferred by the company to the United States in 1983 where he managed several forest product mills in Montana and Idaho. In 2002 Frank and Gloria opened the Boat Shop of Spokane. It was a family business until retirement in 2015. In retirement Frank enjoyed walking, camping, traveling in his motorhome and spending time with family and friends. Frank and Gloria returned to Castlegar, BC in September of 2020.
Frank will be dearly missed by all his family and friends and his memories will live on forever in
our hearts.
